Beltangady: Misbehaviour in Inebriated State – Two Medical Officers Suspended

Beltangady, Jun 14: Through an order, under secretary in the department of state health and family welfare, B F Hubballi, has suspended two medical officers from the taluk. They are, taluk health officer, Dr Raveendranath T, and medical officer of Padangady primary health centre, Dr Praveen.

Their suspension has been ordered for behaviour unbecoming of government servants, and dereliction of duty. In a report sent earlier to the state government, district health and family planning officer had mentioned that these two officers used to get drunk, and harass nurses and other personnel on night duty. District Malaria Officer, Dr Arun Kumar, had investigated the case and submitted his report to the government.

The suspension order, which has come into effect forthwith, mentions that prima facie, the charges levelled against these two government officers had been established  in terms of Karnataka Civil Service Regulations, Rule 10 (1) (d).
