Udupi: Sadananda Gowda Orders Temporary Barriers to be Put up Along Coast

Udupi, Jun 17: MP Sadananda Gowda instructed the deputy commissioner (DC) to erect a temporary barrier within a few days to curb sea erosion at vulnerable sites along the coast by utilizing money from the Natural Calamities Fund.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday after visiting sea prone sites—Padukare–Kanakoda and Udyavar– Kopla—which come under the limits of Udyavar gram panchayat, he said that the officers had been advised to utilize the Natural Calamities Fund of Rs 1 crore to overcome any destruction caused by the monsoon.

ZP president Katpady Shankar Poojary, fisheries and port department officer Jagdish Bhat, Xavier Dias, district BJP president Uday Kumar Shetty, and chief secretary Tingale Vikramarjun Hegde were present on the occasion.
