Chikmagalur, Jun 18: A habitual drunkard hit his wife with a club for silly reason on Friday June 17, till she died. The incident occurred at Maliganadu village in Moodigere taluk.
The victim has been identified as Jayanti (35). Her husband, Manjaiah (45), has been accused of murdering her.
Reportedly, Jayanti had borrowed some amount for justifiable reasons from close friends. Manjaiah, who was in the habit of drinking, quarrelled with her on this issue, and hit her badly with a club. The policemen, who arrived on the scene after the information was conveyed to them, made arrangements to shift thebadly injured Jayanti to Javali primary health centre, but she breathed her last before she could be treated, it is gathered.
A case was registered in Baloor police station. The accused has been arrested.
