Kundapur, Jun 20: In an incident that occurred on the night of Saturday June 18, thieves entered the home of Amanibi located in Master Compound on Siddanayaka Road in the town and decamped with cash and gold ornaments totally worth about two lac rupees.

The thieves gained entry into the house by removing its roof files. At the time, Aminabi was on a visit to her parental home with her son. They ransacked two almirahs and two steel trunks found at home. They also entered the kitchen, threw away the utensils, and ate the food stored in the refrigerator. Perhaps to ensure that their movements should not be traced by sniffer dogs or police personnel, chilli powder was seen sprinkled all over the house. Allegedly, the thieves took away Rs 3,000 in cash and 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments.

Local station house officer, Johnson D’Souza, visited the spot and began investigation. A case stands registered in the local police station.
