Bangalore, Jun 22 : Google stopped collecting images for its Street View service here after the city police objected.
The police stopped them from filming the streets for security reasons.
Since Bangalore has been a target for militants, they said that Google can not be allowed to capture images mainly of the entry and exit points or even the government premises.
The Google cars have been asked to stop filming until they recieve permission from the Defense Ministry of India, additional commissioner for law and order in the city informed in a letter addressed to the Google officials.
Google launched its project to collect high definition images to give Google users 360 degree views of streets.
Street View, a popular feature on Google Maps, is available for about 100 cities in 27 countries.
