Mangalore: Night Rains Raise Hopes of Normal Monsoon

Mangalore, Jun 24: Sporadic light rains were witnessed in most parts of Karnataka coast on Thursday June 23. However, good rains lashed the twin-districts on the night of Thursday, rekindling the hopes of raising a good paddy crop among the agriculturists.

Places like Subrahmanya, Sullia, Beltangady, Puttur, Uppinangady and Kadaba received some rains in the morning and afternoon. Bantwal taluk too got intermittent showers. The city and surrounding places experienced good sunshine during the day, with rains at night.

Kadra in Uttara Kannada district and many places of Uttara Kannada and Kodagu districts located in the Western Ghats received heavy rains. Some places in Malnad area also received good rains

All the three taluks of Udupi district received some rains on Thursday. The meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall during the next two days. It also said that gale with a speed of 25 to 55 knots may blow along the coastal districts.
