Udupi: Nagarika Samiti Protests Uniquely to Seek Penance for Dharmasthala Oath Taking

Udupi, Jun 24: The district Nagarika Samiti led by its chief secretary Nityanand Olakadu staged a unique protest by begging for alms from taluk office to service bus stand here on Friday June 24. The drama was staged to seek penance for the planned oath taking by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and former CM H D Kumaraswamy at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on Monday June 27.

Addressing the public gathering, Nityanand Olakadu said that it’s tragic that the people had to do penance for the heads of state who intend to take oath in the name of farmers.

A sum of Rs 837 was collected in the charity drive that is being undertaken by the district Nagarika Samiti, which will be offered to Sri Kshetra Manjunateshwar at Dharmasthala.
