Ajman, UAE, Jun 27: Among the very few businessmen from Mangalore who have made it big in the UAE, the name of Thumbay Moideen of Thumbay Group UAE ranks among the top few.   No wonder then that  Moideen has been credited as one among the top 100 most influential Indians in the Middle East in a survey conducted by The Arabian Business Magazine in 2010. 

 It is not out of place to say business runs in his blood as he is the third generation entrepreneur belonging to the well known business family - the Yenepoya group.  However, credit goes to Thumbay Moideen for demonstrating dynamism, vision, determination and confidence beyond his age by successfully establishing a burgeoning business empire in an alien land within a short span of a decade and continue to aspire for  replicating the success story wherever it goes. 

Moideen established the THUMBAY Group U.A.E. in the year 1998.  He is a man of vision and dynamism, possessed by a determination to succeed and today he is recognized in India and beyond, for the various achievements to his credit.   Guided by a burning desire to make it big in the competitive world,   the company under the dynamic stewardship of Moideen went on to achieve incredible growth, and in the process has provided employment and livelihood to hundreds of families over the last decade.

With his successful foray into the health care centre,  Moideen is realizing his long cherished dream and mission of emerging as the  leader in the field of healthcare  in UAE.  Credit goes to his company for setting up UAE’s first private medical college in Ajman in 1998 which was soon followed by GMC Hospital and Research Centre, Gulf Medical Centre and GMC Pharmacy in Dubai.  The Gulf Medical College which has been involved in undergraduate education in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Premium Healthcare Delivery, got the status of a University following a decree from the Ministry of Higher Education and is now known as Gulf Medical Centre (GMU).   The Thumbay Group also owns and runs the Body and Soul Health Club – an International Chain of Health Clubs, and Blends and Brews Coffee Shop – an International Chain of Coffee Shoppes.

At present GMU is recognized as an institution of higher education in the UAE.  Graduation certificates of all programs of GMU, attested by the Ministry of Higher Education, are accepted throughout the world and are eligible to apply for USMLE & PLAB Examinations, besides post graduation and specialization studies around the globe.  GMU offers the M.B.B.Sd - Bachelor of Medicine, B.P.T. - Bachelor of Physiotherapy, D.M.D. - Doctor of Dental Medicine, Pharm.D – Doctorate of Pharmacy and several other programs.  It is attracting students from more than 50 nationalities which speak volumes of its good reputation,  name and fame.  It is the only medical university in the region which offers admissions to both boys and girls of all nationalities. 

The University has infrastructure and facilities which are on par with that of the well known medical schools of the world.  The University organizes a unique Summer Training Programme, which enables students to get international clinical exposure. Every year, the clinical students of this university participate in clinical training in leading universities and hospitals in several countries, including USA, UK, Germany, India, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

The Thumbay Group also runs the GMC Hospital and Research Centre with a 250-bed facility, the Thumbay Group UAE also has the distinction of being the first private Teaching Hospital in the UAE.  It is also the largest healthcare provider in the region.   So many firsts to the credit of his group only exemplifies the vision, foresight, dedication and hard work of Moideen who strictly adheres to a regimen of discipline and also expects the same from his staff.
