New Delhi, June 28 (IANS) ABG Shipyard Tuesday said it has bagged an order worth Rs.970 crore from the Indian Navy for construction of two cadet training ships.
The ships will be used for providing basic training to naval cadets and trainees, to carry out disaster relief search and rescue operations and would have the capability to carry light helicopter, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The vessels will be approximately 110 metres in length and will be designed to achieve maximum speed of 20 knots.
The ships will be built at the company's Dahej and Surat yards, which are fully geared to build all kinds of ships for the Indian defence sector.
With this order, the total order book of the company stands at Rs.14,890 crore.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, the shares of the company were 0.53 percent lower to trade at Rs.367.10.
