Beltangady: Information Commission Imposes Fine on Tahsildar

Beltangady, Jun 30: The state information commission has imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on local tahsildar, M K Pramila, for failing to provide information sought by Harish Kumar, a resident of Mangalore Kodialbail.

Harish had sought some information under the Right to Information Act, but the same was not furnished even after long time. The commission has ordered for the fine to be recovered from the tahsildar’s salary in two equal instalments of Rs 5,000 each.

At the same time, the commission has ordered her to provide the information sought by Harish within 15 days, free of cost. The information should be sent through registered post, with a copy thereof to the state commission, it directed.
