Udupi, Jun 30: State BJP president, K S Eshwarappa, who is known to mince no words when it comes to condemning his political adversaries, sounded soft on Deve Gowda. Journalists had met Eshwarappa on Wednesday June 29, when he visited one of his friends living at Kinnimulky here on way to participate in a private function at Trasi, Kundapur taluk.

“Deve Gowda is a senior politician. He is backed by rich experience. Our aim is not to punish him or create problems for him. We seek his cooperation and guidance for the worthy and noble aims of our government,” he said.  The journalists had sought his response to Deve Gowda’s statement that the government should hurry through the investigation into the irregularities and undoing of his family, as he is aged now.

Eshwarappa also refused to be drawn into controversy relating to some derogatory remarks made by Deve Gowda about the Chief Minister recently. “Deve Gowda is an elderly person. He should not use derogatory words. I don’t know in what context and to infer which meaning he used these words. Hence I prefer not to pass any comment,” he said.

About the ministry expansion, Eshwarappa said independent MLA, Varthur Prakash, is sure to get ministerial berth. He however, added that no discussions about the possible date of ministry expansion have been held so far. He expected the exercise to happen after at least a month, as no auspicious things are taken up during Ashadha month.

He advised the opposition leaders to take a break from their routine ofpassing criticisms against the government, and note that the central government has hailed the good governance of the state government.
