Mangalore, Jul 2: Leaders of Hindu Jagruthi Samithi (HJS) expressed their strong disgruntle to the proposed  Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence (Access to Justice and Reparations) Bill, 2011 at a press conference held here, on Saturday July 2.

Addressing media persons, Ramesh Nayak of HJS said that the bill is biased as it presumes that the majority community is always to blame for communal violence.

He alleged that the Bill has been put in the public domain after it was drafted by anti-hindu people like Theestha Setal Wad and Asgar Ali under the presidentship of Sonia Gandhi.

The samithi will protest in front of the Distrit Commissioner’s office on at 11 am on Tuesday July 5 and the appeal will be submitted to the president of India opposing the bill, he said. He further complained that the Bill that was drafted to sort out the communal imbalance in the nation would instead disrupt inter-community relationships. He added that this bill aims at preventing the rights of hindus even during peaceful time.

Under the proposed bill, in case of rape of a muslim woman she will be compensated with Rs 5 lac while a woman belonging to the majority community will be compensated Rs 30,000. Discrimination of this kind will clearly hurt the sentiments of people belonging to the majority community, he lamented.

Laxmish Gabladka, Ramananda Gowda, Ananth Kamath among others were present at the press meet.
