Bangalore, Jul 6: Four including a woman were held for allegedly cheating 37 job seekers to the tune Rs 1.80 lac promising them employment in leading IT firm, Wipro.

Bangalore police commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji informed that the accused were identified as Rajiv Ranjan (30) a native of Bihar, Mohammed Azar (25) a resident of Andhra Pradesh, Sathya Priya (25) a resident of Tamil Nadu and M N Naryanana (29) a native of Kerala.

One of the accused Priya would lure job seekers with a promise to get them job in Wipro,Bangalore and collect all their original documents. She would then accompany them to Wipro campus where she introduced them to another accomplice posing as Wipro personnel. Then they arrange for interview with another person acting to be HR personnel. The accused were able enter the Wipro campus by misusing the vendor entry cards issued by the company Mirji said.
 
The aspirants were offered appointment letters for the post of software trainee engineers with an annual salary of Rs 2.94 lac by the accused, which also asked them to join Wipro in September.

The racket came to the fore as one of the victims was suspected foul play and informed police, following which the accused were nabbed one by one over the last 15 days, Mirji said.

All the accused were first-time offenders and had been running the racket for about 40 days and had cheated 37 people, he said.

The police confiscated goods like ATM cards, pan cards, gold ornaments, vehicles and duplicate letter heads worth Rs 58.43 lac from the accused.

Three of the gang members were pursuing their management courses police said. They also managed to replicate the Wipro logo on their letter heads.

Involvement of any Wipro employee in the racket has not been traced but investigation is on in this angle as well Mirji added.
