Mangalore, Jul 9: "Prof (Dr) N Sridhar Shetty, founder principal of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences has left an indelible impression in the field of dental education by way of his invaluable contributions and toiled for the all-round progress of the Institution in his record tenure of 21 years," said Dr Vinay Hegde, chancellor of Nitte University.
He was delivering the inaugural address at "Prof (Dr) N Sridhar Shetty Annual Endowment Lecture" held at ABSMIDS Auditorium on Saturday July 9 in honour of his birthday.
Dean (academics) ABSMIDS Prof (Dr) Krishna Nayak delivered the Dr Shetty Felicitation address and paid rich tributes on his achievements as a mentor of the Institution and said that the endowment lecture would be an annual feature here after.
Acknowledging the felicitation Prof (Dr) Sridhar Shetty recalled his very long tenure as a principal and attributed his success to the hard work of the students, co-operation of the faculty members and the management. Students' love and affection was his asset, he added.
Emeritus, Professor in prosthodontics, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai, internationally-acclaimed teacher Prof (Dr) E G R Solomon delivered an endowment lecture on "Applied Anatomy of Temporomandibular Joint" and head of the department of community dentistry, Coorg Institute of Dental Sciences, Virajpet, Prof (Dr) Jithesh delivered an endowment lecture on "Concepts and Vision of Dr N Sridhar Shetty - An Insight" with an audio-visual presentation.
Dean ABSMIDS Prof (Dr) Rajendra Prasad and Dr Shubhan Alva were present.
President of Dental Council of India Dr Mujamdar paid a surprise visit on the occasion.
