Udupi, May 26: MLA Yashpal Suvarna has urged chief minister Siddaramaiah and chief secretary to postpone reopening of primary and high schools by a week considering the acute shortage of water across the state.

The primary and high schools are due to reopen on May 31 as per directions from the education department.

“As facilities for drinking water supply are not appropriate at several schools in the state, it has become difficult for school authorities to provide drinking water to students, Bisiyoota and to maintain cleanliness in schools. It will affect the health of school students and routine activities,” he stated.
