Ruby Jubilee celebration of St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady inaugurated

Udupi, June 15: As St. Mary’s School is stepping towards 40th year, the school inaugurated its Ruby Jubilee celebration on June 15.

On the occasion of Ruby Jubilee celebration, St Mary’s school has adopted Laxmi Venkatesha Prasanna Higher Primary School, Puttur, Udupi, and handed over a cheque for Rs 40,000 to set up a library in the school and to enhance the reading skills of the students.

Chief Guest Bishop Dr. Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, “The word education has its root from latin word educere, which means to drive out good things from the life of student comes to the school, their qualities, talents and things which are hidden in the life of the student. Education helps to bring out the hidden talent and it is duty of teacher to bring out their talent, from darkness to light and from ignorance to enlightenment. I request you to do as you go forward, look back and thank god for blessings, look inside and meet god within you, look around and meet god there and look ahead and trust god and plan your future. This is a competitive world where students have to fight against the thoughts society have. Students must dream dreams, should not stop until you achieve it. I wish all the best to receive success
through all the programs you planed.”

MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “I am happy to be part of this Ruby Jubilee celebration. Udupi is most famous for its cultural heritage and valuable education. I am proud for being a alumni of St Mary’s School. My first priority is education and health. You honoured me now my responsibility has increased as a MLA as well as alumni. When I was studying here St Mary’s had state syllabus, but now it has got upgraded to CBSE syllabus which is most needed in the present education system. From the time of British rule, Catholic Board gave importance to education. Teachers who are selfless in their work had made Udupi district to top in education.”

BEO Chandre Gowda on the occasion said, “St Mary’s School through its disciple, timeliness, valuable education has become a well-known education institution in Udupi. Parents must inspire and guide their children, and children must have a goal, hard work is must to reach the goal. Education is a wealth that cannot be stolen. Education is must to solve life problems. Along with education values are also needed. Children must develop leadership quality in them. Children must use as much as stage so they can succeed in future. Dr Ambedkar was called a wise man who has seen the world because he used to read books. Book is the food for the brain. I thank all the people who contributed to this school.”

MSGR Fr Ferdinand Gonsalvis president of the event said, “St Mary’s School is a temple of learning. School is a second home of young minds. The programme they planned helps the community, parents and students very much. St. Mary’s School is well-known for its well organized structure. The school is marching towards excellence. School has a rigorous curriculum, fair assessment, supportive learning and family involvement. I request management, staff and parents to prepare students to become good citizens of India and to respect everyone.”

On the occasion of Ruby celebration, St. Mary’s School has planned several events, to bring awareness and educate public on social concern TV and radio programmes have been planned.

Staff enrichment programme, day of gratitude, a day to felicitate people who contributed to school, medical checkup of staff and students, guruvandanam – day to recall the service of all guru’s, table tennis tournament – CBSE and ICSE schools of Udupi and Dakshina kannada, fun time with parents, blood donation camp, international tour of six days for high school students and staff, St Mary’s stars day, St Mary’s marathon at Udupi district level, get together of staff family members, cultural fest – interschool competition, artistry show.

The Ruby Jubilee year will be celebrated in January 2024. Parents were requested to cooperate with the successful celebration jubilee year.

The programme started with singing prayer song by school choir group. Students performed prayer dance to bless the beginning of their jubilee celebration.

MLA Yashpal Suvarna released the Ruby Jubilee song. BEO Chandre Gowda released the jubilee programmes. Maxim Dsouza and Dr Arthur Rodrigues released the jubilee shawl and jersey and Fr. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza realeased the Marian Panorama school magazine.

BEO Chandre Gowda, Bishop Fr Dr. Aloysius Paul Dsouza and others were honoured. The logo of Ruby Jubilee was released. Students of St Mary’s School performed a dance in dedicating to teachers.

The programme concluded with the singing of the school anthem. Vivan Mendonza and Cyvil Levina Soanso hosted the event. Rita Quadros, vice principal proposed the vote of thanks. Maxim DSouza, vice-president of Paris Pastoral council, Dr Arthur Rodrigues secretary of Paris Pastoral council, Fr Charles Menezes, correspondent and Paris priest Mother of Sorrows Church,
Mohamad Saad and Surabhi Sudir Rao, student representatives were present on the occasion.
