Kundapur, June 16: A woman here has collected 10,000 coins of Rs 10  each and bought a Suzuki Access 125 cc bike with the money.

Rubina Begum is the customer who bought the bike from Srinivas Motors Suzuki showroom in Koteshwar's Ankadakatte. She has fulfilled her desire of buying the bike by paying the entire amount in only Rs 10 coins.

Receiving the price of the bike only in coins was a new experience for the staff of Radhakrishna Suzuki showroom.

The coins weighed a total of 80 kilos. Counting those coins was a challenge. However, the proprietor and the staff of the organisation have gladly accepted them.

Not a good social behaviour, and should be discouraged. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also issued guidelines that discourage coin hoarding. In a circular issued in 2011, The RBI also warned that "hoarding of coins may lead to their scarcity and inconvenience to the public." Dont encourage coin hoarding as the money spent by government in manufacture of each coin is more than its monetary value.

Even banks were refusing 10 rupee coin. May be the reason why she started collecting them. Illegal to hoard the coins, any way.

Very good; she saved ₹10 coins, and perhaps made a record by buying a 🛴 with the same! BTW, in many places in and around Mangalore, traders and shopkeepers do not accept ₹10 coins saying it's not legal tender!!
