Udupi, Jun 20: “The Hindu society is like a football to the Congress government. The state government has brought imbalance in the society,” said Sri Rajashekarananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur in a protest meet held by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal (BD) over the state government to repeal the laws on conversion and cow slaughter on Monday June 19.
Sri Rajashekarananda Swamiji said, “To bring peace and to protect the sacred animal, the previous government brought two acts over animal slaughter and conversion. Our protest is on the repealing of the anti-conversion act by the state government. This is our fate because we Hindus chose our government and they say it is in their manifesto. When the ant-conversion law came into force, the society was in peace but now the new state government announced the repealing of the law. The state government is trying to bring imbalance in the society. I request the government to work for the welfare of the state and not to create problems for Hindu religion. The state government has to verify and then take the next step.”
Bajrang Dal zonal convenor Sunil K R said, “Our country has been attacked by different people from the past. First, our country was attacked by Islam religion, and then foreign Christians attacked us to change the only Hindu country to their religion. But due to our rich culture, we never changed and we got freedom. But later, people who ruled the country in the name of secularism caused disruption for 60 years. The motto of VHP is to make India a Hindu country. The BJP government brought the anti-conversion law into force to save the country, but the Congress government removes the act for their benefit. If you take back the act, Bajrang Dal will protest.”
A protest rally was held from Syndicate circle, Manipal till the DC’s office raising slogans.
Padebettu Vishnumurthi Acharya president of Udupi district VHP, Dinesh Mendon district secretary of VHP, MLAs Yashpal Suvarna and Gururaj Gantihole, former MLA Raghupati Bhat, BJP leader Ragavendra Kini, Kuilady Suresh Nayak president of Karnataka state federation of bus owner’s association, BJP activists and others were present.
