Mangaluru, Jul 1: “The government is thinking over converting the Coastal Development Authority as the development board,” said minister for Planning and Statistics, D Sudhakar. He was speaking after presiding over a progress review meeting of Coastal Development Authority at the DC office auditorium here on Saturday July 1.
“The government is bound for the development of the coastal region of the state. The opinion of the MLAs of the three districts and the MLC will be collected. The development should be undertaken in the areas mentioned by them,” he said to the concerned officers.
He further said, “The funds released by the government to the Coastal Development Authority should be used on priority wherever essential and not on other projects. Hanging bridge, foot bridge, development of school building and fish market will be undertaken. Women will be provided necessary training in dry fish processing.”
MLC Manjunath Bhandary said that a blueprint for the use of Coastal Development Authority funds will be necessary and requested the minister for his directions in this connection.
Coastal Development Authority secretary Pradeep D’Souza said that various projects are taken up according to the need and necessity in the three districts.
