Mangaluru, Jul 3: A workshop was conducted on July 2 for the benefit of the convenors and members of 21 commissions. Parish priest Fr Paul Pinto started the programme with a prayer followed by an introductory talk about the commissions.

Maurice Renjal, co-ordinator, 21 commissions, welcomed the gathering.

Fr Joseph Martis, diocesan co-ordinator of all 21 commissions was the resource person who explained that the objective of the commissions is to pool the ideas and thought processes pertaining to the various church activities and thereby giving an opportunity to involve many in the developmental activities of the parish.

Fr Martis also elaborated that considering the turbulent and testing times the wounded church has been facing at the moment, the need of strong foundation as an obvious positive outcome of these commissions cannot be overemphasized.

The concerned convenors were briefed with their responsibilities and the kind of programmes that could be taken up. In the end, in question and answer session, all the queries raised by the members were answered clearly dispelling all doubts. It was urged to conduct at least 5-6 programmes annually pooling 2-3 concerned commissions or along with other parish associations.

Joel Pereira conducted the programme. Francis Gonsalves, vice-president parish pastoral committee proposed vote of thanks.

The programme ended with the hymn 'Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good'.
