Ballari, Jul 7: United Christian Forum, Ballari sent an appeal to the President and Prime Minister of the country urging them to take action over the unrest in the state of Manipur.

The appeal said, “It is really shocking and painful to know that the violence in Manipur that began two months ago is still continuing. According to reports, more than 100 people have died. Many churches and prayer centres are burnt down. Nearly 50000 people have become homeless.

“We, the members of United Christian Forum urge earnestly to stop the violence at Manipur immediately and to restore peace in the state. We request you to provide compensation to those who have lost their loved ones and properties and appeal to strike compromise between the groups that are warring against each other.

“Our mother land India has contribute immensely for world non-violence and peace. We have to continue the same tradition. All have to strive for the all-round progress and prosperity of all Indians. We pray for God’s blessings on the people of Manipur and India,” stated the appeal.

The appeal was signed by Bishop Henry D’Souza, Rev Christa Vatsa, vice president UCF, pastor John Mark, pastor Dr Prabhakar Rao, Fr Ivan Pinto, Pastor Devanand and sister Shanti Chacko.
