Kundapur: 41,000 pairs of uniforms donated to students of 325 schools

Kundapur, Jul 8: Heggunje Rajiv Shetty Charitable Society, Bengaluru distributed 41,000 pairs of free uniforms to the students of 325 government and aided schools in Udupi district. The programme was held at Sahana convention centre, Kundapur Ankadakatte on July 8.

Former minister, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar inaugurated the programme. He said that people with generosity and capacity to donate such a huge number of uniforms are rare. The pro society thoughts and initiative towards the nature of donor Haladi Kudrumane Srinivas Shetty are inspiring to youth, he said.

Hariprakash Konemane, chief editor of Vistara news, gave a keynote address. Kundapur MLA A Kiran Kumar Kodgi presided over the programme.

Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Byndoor MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, district former MLA Raghupati Bhat, Udupi district deputy director of education and Ganapathi K were the guests of honour.

Retired headmaster, Udupi Yakshagana Kalaranga secretary Murali Kadekar was conferred Heggunje Rajiv Shetty Vidya Poshak award.

Heggunje society president H S Shetty welcomed. Vice president Halady Nagaraja Shetty and secretary Dr Sumana Shetty honoured the guests. Dr B B Hegde College vice principal chetan Kumar Shetty Kovadi compered the programme. Trust treasurer Rajiv Shetty rendered the vote of thanks.
