Bantwal, Jul 8: District in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao visited on Saturday evening Nandavara Gumpu Mane, Sajipa Munnoor where a woman had died when a landslide took place. He also visited the family of the deceased and condoled them.

Speaking to the media later he said that compensation from the government is already paid to the family and assured of spending for repairs. “Her daughter is undergoing treatment at Mangaluru Tejaswini hospital. The deputy commissioner (DC) has been directed to bear the cost of the treatment,” he said.

“The district administration has been directed to take precautions about many other houses facing dangers in the vicinity. A protective wall is being planned to prevent further landslides,” he said.

Former minister B Ramanath Rai, Chandraprakash Shetty, Ashwani Kumar Rai, Baby Kunder, Sudeep Shetty, Mohammed Nandavara, Siddik Guddeyangadi, Samad Kaikamba, Ibrahim Nawaz, DC Mullai Mugilan, tahsildar S V Koodalagi, PDO Laxman, DySP Pratap Thorat and others were present.
