Mangaluru: Sexual harassment of minor girl – Accused sentenced to three years in prison

Mangaluru, Jul 13: Justice Manjula Itti of additional district and sessions court (FTSC-1 POCSO) sentenced an accused who sexually harassed a minor girl, to three years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 10000.

Satish Kulal, resident of Bantwal Golthamajalu is the accused who was convicted by the court.

The victim girl was going by bus to her home on August 30, 2019. The accused also followed her in the same bus. The girl who noticed the accused stalking, got down at Keduvaru bus station and was walking. The accused caught her from behind and sexually harassed her. When the girl screamed, the accused threatened and assaulted the man who questioned his behaviour.

A case was filed in Vittal police station in this regard. PSI Yallappa filed chargesheet. Special public prosecutor Sahana Devi argued for the prosecution.

Justice Manjula Itti, who conducted the inquiry, sentenced accused Satish Kulal to three years of simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 10000. The judge also instructed the concerned to give Rs one lac compensation to the victim girl.
