Udupi, Jul 13: District and session court sentenced four accused, in the case of assault on a car driver that occurred six years ago, to three years in prison.
Yogish Poojary (43), Sudhakar (42), Vasantha (52) and Kiran (34), are the accused who were convicted by the court. All four were working as car drivers.
Victim Rajesh Shettigar (40), resident of Shirva was running his car on rent at Rajangana of Sri Krishna Math. He had filed a complaint on Yogish Poojary, who also used to park his taxi at Rajangana, to the taximen’s association that Yogish does not carry a badge. Due to this enmity, Yogish Poojary went to the room of Rajesh at Kunjibettu along with others on March 7, 2017 and attempted to murder Rajesh.
A case filed in this regard in Udupi city police station. The then SI Anant Padmanabha arrested the accused and filed charge sheet in the court.
Justice Dinesh Hegde, who conducted the inquiry pronounced that the accusation is proven and sentenced all four accused to three years in prison and fined Rs 20000.
District public prosecutor Jayaram Shetty argued for the prosecution.
