Udupi: Young Students Movement holds leaders,animators training programme, Central council election

Udupi, Jul 16: Young Students Movement Udupi district having an aim “To build a new society” organised a training programme for the animators and council members as well as the central council election on July 15.

The programme was conducted at Udupi, Mother of Sorrows church auditorium. The programme began with an inter-religious prayer conducted by YSM students followed by ice breaking session and fun-filled activities for the students. The activities gave an opportunity for all the students to have an interaction with each other.

Fr Charles Menezes former international YCS/YSM chaplain and parish priest of Udupi church explained to the students their role in society. 

YCS/YSM Udupi District director Fr Stevan Fernandes conducted the elections. The newly elected Udupi District YSM council members are:

  • President – Sinchana, St Lawrence English Medium high school, Moodubelle
  • Secretary – Havisha, Trinity Central School, Perampalli
  • Vice president – Simran Rebiero – Mount Rosary English School, Santhekatte
  • Lady vice president – Disha Prabhu – Christ School, Manipal
  • Reporter – Riha D’Souza – St Francis Xavier English medium school, Udyavara
  • Treasurer – Adron Nazareth, Milagres English medium school, Kallianpur
  • Animator – Sandra Lobo
  • Regional vice president – Vance D’Souza, Manipal
  • RTS member – Evisha Dmello, Karkala town
  • National president – Anson Nazareth, Shirva

The old council members handed over their responsibility to the newly elected members, followed by the oath-taking ceremony by the new council members.

The chief guest of the programme Raghupati Bhat, former MLA of Udupi constituency expressed his thought regarding YSM. He encouraged the students to build leadership qualities on the basis of their interests. Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address motivated young students to change their self and change others.

Former MLA Raghupati Bhat felicitated the former council members for their selfless service, while Anson Nazareth was honoured on being elected as the national president of YCS YSM India. Laveena D’Souza was honoured for her selfless service as a district animator. The young students actively participated in this training programme.

This programme came to an end with YCS YSM anthem.
