Beltangady: KCWA-CKSK disburses sixth year of 'Suvidya Interest-free Educational loan - 2023'

Beltangady, Jul 16: The Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK), supported by the Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), organised the disbursement of the Suvidya 2023 interest-free loan at Vimukti here on Sunday, July 16. The loan aims to support the higher education needs of economically disadvantaged youths in the diocese of Mangalore. 

A total of 17 students have applied for the Suvidya 2023 scheme. The programme commenced with a prayer, and in attendance were Veena Serrao,  education fund coordinator, and Santhosh Thomas D'Souza, committee member. 

Fr Chetan, editor of Sevak Magazine and manager of Assisi Press, along with Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director of CKSK, and Fr Rohan Lobo, assistant director, shared the stage. Fr Rohan Lobo welcomed the guests and delivered the introductory talk.

Fr Chetan honoured the KCWA Education Fund coordinator for their exceptional support. In her address,  Veena encouraged students to pursue higher education. Fr Chetan expressed that true happiness lies in giving and emphasised the importance of becoming givers.

Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, director, expressed gratitude to KCWA for their dedicated service in assisting financially challenged youths in pursuing higher education within the Diocese of Mangalore. He also extended his well wishes to all the members of KCWA for their commitment to addressing homeland issues.

Laveena, the coordinator, provided detailed explanation of the requirements and guidelines to be followed by all Suvidya applicants. A total of Rs 741,000 was disbursed this year.

The students were then presented with cheques according to their claims.

Poornima served as the programme's compere and Laveena delivered the vote of thanks.
