Dr Vijayabhanu Shetty of Dr Krishna Life Sciences Ltd granted US patent for Alzheimer's drug

Udupi, Jul 18: Dr M Vijayabhanu Shetty, MD, Dr Krishna Life Sciences Ltd, Manipal, has been awarded a US patent for his innovative drug targeting Alzheimer's and Parkinsonism.

This marks another significant achievement for Dr Vijayabhanu Shetty, who already holds 16 US patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for his various medicines, including two patents for Muneks for cancer, two patents for Insol N for diabetes, two patents for Muniprabha for kidney disorders, Herbotrim for metabolic disorders, Munibeyotic plus for infectious disorders, Munident for oral health care, Heartogen for cardiac ailments, Herbadict for deaddiction, Soubhagya Kalpa for uterine ailments, Munithyrone for hyper & hypo thyroidism, two patents for Hiranya Praash for autoimmune disorders, and a line of treatment for cancer called Mahoshadha Kalpa. These US patents, awarded for a period of 20 years, represent a remarkable milestone in the history of Ayurveda. The drugs underwent rigorous evaluation, including toxicity studies, animal experimentation, clinical trials, and data analysis, at renowned universities across the country.

The Muniyal Ayurveda group operates undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs in Ayurveda, Naturopathy, and Yoga. It encompasses hospitals, herbal gardens dedicated to the preservation of endangered species of medicinal plants, research and development facilities, clinics, and a production unit. "Sacitra Caraka Samhita," a meticulous Sanskrit-to-English translation of Caraka Samhita, published by Muniyal Ayurveda, has received accolades and was unveiled by the former president of India, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.
