Udupi: Social workers demand well-equipped rehabilitation centre for destitutes

Udupi, July 18: Social workers of the district have demanded a well-equipped rehabilitation centre for destitutes in the district. Their demand was made during the discussions held by diving expert Ishwar Malpe, Nithyananda Olakadu, Vishu Shetty Ambalapady and Ganesh Rao Saralabettu at Udupi Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday. July 18.

Ganesh Raj Saralabettu said that Manipal requires a fire brigade station and a crematorium for Udupi. He said the Arbi Falls should be developed and the national highway work at Parkala should be completed as also the forest department should prevent the menace of forest animals.

Samskriti Siri Trust managing trustee Professor Muralidhar Upadyaya inaugurated the programme. Udupi district Patrakartara Sangha president Rajesh Shetty presided over the programme. Udupi Vishwa Samskriti Prathistana honorary president Vishwanath Shenoy, Sangha’s state committee member Kiran Manjanabailu, Rajata Mahotsava committee chief secretary Jayakar Suvarna and treasurer Umesh Marpalli were present.

Chief secretary of the Sangha Nazir Polya welcomed. Journalist Shashidhar Mastibailu introduced the social workers. Rajata Mahotsava committee convener Mohammed Sharif rendered the vote of thanks. Executive committee member Michael Rodrigues compered the programme.
