Bantwal: 69% voters turn up to exercise franchise for Pudu GP seat in by-poll

Bantwal, Jul 23: A fierce election was held for the lone seat of Pudu village council on Sunday despite the heavy rainfall lashing the district.

A by-election was held in Pudu Grama Panchayat of Mangaluru constituency of Bantwala taluk following the death of one of its members. There are 850 voters including 414 men and 416 women. Among them, 284 are men and 288 are women, As many as 572 citizens cast their vote.The voter turnout of males was 68.60% while for women it was 69.23%. The total voter turnout was 68.92%.

Voting was held at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Senior Primary School Sujeeru (South Side) polling station. Counting of votes will be held on July 26.

Three candidates are contesting for the vacant seat and it remains to be seen who will win between Abdul Latif, Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Iqbal.
