Mangaluru: Vanmahotsava celebrated at Bajpe church

Mangaluru, Jul 25: Vanmahotsav was celebrated by ICYM Bajpe Unit, Catholic Sabha Bajpe unit, YCS Bajpe unit and Samanvaya Mangaluru, on July 23 in the Church mini hall.

Parish priest Dr Ronald Cutinha, assistant parish priest Dr Ozmond Roshan D'Souza, Pauline Crasta, the resource person, parish pastoral council vice president Stany D'Souza, secretary Gracy Sequeira, ICYM president Glevin D'Souza, Catholic Sabha president Leo Sequeira, YCS president Preemal Serrao, and other parishioners, were present.

The event commenced with a prayer ceremony led by YCS, Bajpe, followed by a warm welcome from Leo Sequeira, the president of Catholic Sabha. The inauguration took place with the planting of a sapling in a pot.

Pauline Crasta, a retired teacher from Rosa Mystica School, was the resource person for the day. She shared her insights on planting and raising saplings, emphasizing the importance of tree conservation. Parish priest Dr Ronald Cutinha also delivered his insights and message during the event.

Dr Ozmond Roshan D'Souza, the assistant parish priest, presented a sapling to the resource person as a token of gratitude.

Glevin D'souza, the ICYM president, proposed the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude. Carol Lobo compered the event. 

Approximately 200 saplings were arranged for the event. Each ward received 4 saplings, and the remaining saplings were distributed among interested parishioners.
