New Delhi, Aug 3: Global tenders inviting Expression of Interest (EoI) bids for a project to tackle Bengaluru Traffic Congestion have been announced by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA), as stated by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar.

Addressing the media in New Delhi on Thursday, he revealed that some companies from China, Singapore, and Israel have already shown interest in the project, with the deadline for bid submission set for August 8.

Shivakumar also shared that he had met with Union Surface Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the unique traffic challenges faced by Bengaluru. Being a global city and India's knowledge and startup capital, Bengaluru's traffic congestion has become a pressing issue. He appealed to the Union Minister to involve the National Highway Authority of India in finding a solution to the problem, particularly because four national highways pass through the city, leading to a significant influx of vehicles.

The positive response from Gadkari prompted him to suggest exploring options like tunnel roads and flyovers. Gadkari requested the State Government to submit a detailed project report for further consideration.

Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister informed that discussions with legal and irrigation experts have taken place to expedite the resolution of inter-state river water disputes involving Mahadayi, Cauvery, and Krishna rivers. The issue will be taken up in the State Cabinet meeting after consulting with the Chief Minister.
