Kundapur, Aug 4: MP of Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency B Y Raghavendra met union minister for ports and fisheries Sarbanand Sonuwal and urged him to respond to the issues faced by coastal region of Byndoor.

Raghavendra met Sonuwal on Friday and asked him to get CRZ clearance for Maravanthe outer port second phase work for which Rs 85 crore is already sanctioned. He also asked for breakwater and minor fishing port at Uppunda where two fishermen died recently as their boat sank.

A private company did not take part in the tender process of proposed harbour work at Byndoor of Rs 228.78 crore as more funds are required. Hence, Raghavendra requested the minister for direct involvement of union government.
