Mangaluru: Dr Deepak Rai to launch inaugural of Bone and Joint Week

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Renowned orthopedic surgeon, Dr Deepak Rai, chief orthopedic surgeon at Yenepoya Specialty Hospital and president of the Canara Orthopaedic Society (COS), is proud to launch the inaugural Bone and Joint Week on behalf of COS, under the theme “Each one, train one, save one."

The Bone and Joint Week initiative is a dedicated effort to promote musculoskeletal health and overall well-being within the community. Engaging in regular exercise, maintaining a balanced diet replete with vitamins and calcium, seeking exposure to sunlight, and adopting a healthy lifestyle are essential measures to alleviate undue stress on the joints. Dr Rai has also underscored the significance of wearing suitable footwear and scheduling regular check-ups with orthopedic surgeons.

During this week, various members and consultants of the Canara Orthopaedic Society, and various medical colleges, have initiated training programs in basic life support for police personnel and the public transportation system. COS members have also conducted awareness programs within senior citizen forums, aligning with the President's theme of the Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) – “Stronger bone, stronger nation ".

Dr Rai expressed deep gratitude to the orthopedic community members who have taken these initiatives, and he stressed that this effort is part of their commitment to the community.

Dr Rai further emphasizes that the success of such programs wouldn't be possible without the dedication and support of each COS member. Their collective efforts serve as an inspiring example of how a community can contribute to building a stronger, healthier nation from the ground up, he expressed.

COS' mission is to create a positive impact on the community by fostering a culture of proactive self-care.
