Mangaluru, Aug 7: CODP (R) Mangaluru promoted Kamadhenu and Kalpavriksha Mahasanga Mangaluru organized Souharda Aati Donji Koota with members of 40 self help groups on Sunday, August 6.
The programme was held at Mother Theresa Hall, CODP.
On the auspicious occasion of this programme the guests for the event were traditionally welcomed with jaggery and water. The programme started with the arrival of Atikalanjar, a symbol of Tulunadu culture.
A doctor couple Dr Ethias and Dr Meghana donated hair with the intention of helping cancer patients and were handed over a certificate by the organization.
Members of the Maha Sangha used to deposit small monthly savings in the bank for the poor. With that savings, two poor families were distributed financial aid for treatment.
Later, Shakila Khava, a local corporator, distributed mosquito nets and said, "Attidonji Koota is a sign of friendship. It is necessary to continue the programme that reflects the culture of Tulunadu by all religions."
Later, CODP director Fr Vincent D'Souza said, "We should love nature. Attidonji Koota is not limited to one day, we should protect our nature and by holding such programmes, harmony will increase among the people."
Canara Communication Center director Anil Fernandes was present for the programme.
Rita, the co-ordinator explained the importance of conservation of natural resources on organic farming and its benefits.
Annimater Kala arranged the programme. Fr Vincent thanked them for their service.
At last, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch of Tulunadu prepared by the organizers. As many as 200 people contributed to the programme.
