Mangaluru, Aug 8: The management committee overseeing the seven shrines of Koragajja at Kuthar has declared that these sacred sites will be accessible year-round, 24/7.

However, it should be noted that women will be permitted to visit the shrines exclusively between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm. Traditional Kolas (ritual performances) will be conducted only during nighttime hours. In accordance with an age-old practice, lighting lamps or burning incense is prohibited within the premises. The revered Panjantaya deity bestowed seven stones and seven parts of gramas (grains) upon the Koragathaniya deity, as documented in the Padthana, to ward off the Arasu demons. These sacred locations are situated in Kuthar, Someshwara, Bolya, Mitha Agela, Ujila, Tala, and Deralakatte. The rituals associated with the Panjandaya Banta Vaidyanatha and Koragataniya deities, which have an illustrious history spanning eight centuries, continue to be observed. While some individuals are constructing Gudis (temples) in different locations, asserting them to be abodes of the Koragataniya deities, it is essential to clarify that the genuine abodes of Koragathaniya deity are solely the seven aforementioned sites, emphasized Sridhar Shetty Maganathadi, trustee of the shrine.
