Bantwal: BJP supported candidates get elected to Idkidu GP as president, vice-prez

Bantwal, Aug 9: Mohini Poojary and Padmanabha Ganiga, supported by the BJP, have been elected unopposed as president and vice-president respectively to the Idkidu Grama Panchayat.

The panchayat president's post is reserved for a woman belonging to a backward class while that of the vice-president's post is reserved under the general category.

In the panchayat with 19 members, BJP has 15 members, Congress 1, Aam Aadmi Party supported independent 1 and SDPI 2 members.

Assistant engineer Preetham of the Public Works Department was the electoral officer in the election process that was held on Tuesday.
