Kundapur MLA inaugurates Dr Shivarama Karanth birth anniversary programme

Kundapur, Oct 3: “Karanth has spread his name with his achievements. Karanth alone is equal to Karanth,” said Kundapur MLA A Kiran Kumar Kodgi.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Dr Shivarama Karanth birth anniversary programme being held from October 3 to 10 at Dr Shivarama Karanth Theme Park here.

Kotathattu grama panchayat president K Sathish Kunder presided over the programme.

Byndoor MLA Gururaj Shetty Gantihole, Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Udupi MLA Yashpal A Suvarna, Dr Shivarama Karanth Prathistana Kota president Anand C Kunder, Udupi KASAPA district president Neelavara Surendra Adiga and Brahmavar taluk panchayat executive officer H V Ibrahimpur were present as guests of honour.

Former minister and MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary gave his introductory address.

Neere Grama panchayat, Shankernarayana gram panchayat, Aleyoor grama panchayat, Kodi grama panchayat, Kolthodu grama panchayat, Madamakki grama panchayat, Belle grama panchayat and Hosadu grama panchayat were presented Karanth awards.

Kannada and culture department assistant director Poornima welcomed. Janardhana Kumbhashi sang a folk song. Narendra Kumar compered the programme.

Dr Karanth Huttoora Prashasthi Prathistana has been identifying special achievers and presenting them awards for the last 18 years. Dr Vidyabhooshan has been selected for the award for 2023.

The award will be presented on October 10 at 4 pm by minister H K Patil. District in-charge minister Lakshmi R Hebbalkar will be inaugurating the programme.

Film shows will be held from October 4 to October 8. Cultural programme will be held on October 9 and a musical nite programme will be held on October 10.
