Mangaluru: Prof J N Shetty Memorial Oration at Father Muller Medical College

Mangaluru, Oct 4: The Department of Dermatology at Father Muller Medical College, in collaboration with the Prof J N Shetty Memorial Oration Trust and the Karavali Dermatology Society, organized the "Prof J N Shetty Memorial Oration and KDS Clinical Meet" on October 1 at the Conference Hall of Father Muller Medical College Hospital.

This annual program aims to honor the memory of the late Professor J N Shetty, the visionary who served as the first dean and head of the Dermatology Department at Father Muller Medical College from 1991 to 2000. He is fondly remembered for his services in the field of Leprosy in Hind Kusht Nivaran Sangh.

The inauguration program began with an invocation to the Almighty, followed by the lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries. Dr Sukumar D, president of the Prof J N Shetty Memorial Oration Trust, introduced the dignitaries and extended a warm welcome to the attendees.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions. Dr Dipankar De, professor of Dermatology from PGI Chandigarh, Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator of FMMCH, Dr Antony Sylvan D’Souza, dean of FMMC, and Dr Jacintha Martis, professor & head of Dermatology, FMMC and Dr Vishal Amin, KDS president were present on the dais during the inaugural ceremony. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho delivered the presidential address.

Dr Dipankar De was honored by the dignitaries present on the occasion and he delivered a oration titled "Autoimmune Bullous Diseases Research in India – Pemphigus and Beyond."

Dr Ramesh Bhat M , Dr Jerome Pinto, Dr Manjunath Shenoy, Dr Narendra Kamath, Dr Shurthakirthi D Shenoi, Dr Pramod Kumar, Dr Smitha Prabhu were present during the occasion.

A total of 150 delegates participated in this scientific event.
