Mangaluru: St Lawrence English Medium School hosts north zone, taluk level athletic meet

Mangaluru, Oct 5: Taluk level athletic meet of north zone of Mangaluru was held at Mangala stadium on October 3 and 4.

The programme was inaugurated in association with Dakshina Kannada panchayat school education department, block education office and St Lawrence English Medium School, Bondel.

Fr Antony Sera, secretary of Catholic Education Board was the chief guest for the inauguration ceremony. James Cutinha, block education officer presided. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, convener of St Lawrence English medium school hoisted the flag.

An inaugural dance was performed by St Lawrence School students while band was played by students of Ladyhill School. Athletes took part in the march past.

G Usman, Bharat K, Fr Peter Gonsalves, John D’Silva, Vinod Kumar, Ramya Shetty, Asha Nayak, Harish Rai, Raghavendra, Cheluvamma, Jairam, Umesh, Hariprasad, Premalatha were present.

Athletes who won first, second and third places were given medal and certificates.

Block resource officer G Usman wished all the students who participated all the best and thanked St Lawrence English medium school who coordinated the event at the valedictory function.

Bharath recalled the contribution of everyone who worked for the success of the athletic meet. Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, convener of the school gave away individual champion and group championship trophies.
