Woman caught with smuggled gold worth over Rs 20 lac at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru Oct 6: A lady passenger who was travelling from Mangaluru to Dubai was intercepted by Customs officials on October 4.

She was expected to travel by Air India IX 814. On October 4, while an official was frisking her, a beep sound emerged from her waist region apparently indicating presence of gold.

It was found that two oval shaped objects were concealed in her rectum. After extraction by heating process, gold of 24 carat purity weighing 349 grams worth Rs 20,41,650 was recovered from her.
