Mangaluru: Protest against sub-standard road work – Contractor escapes fearing public backlash

Mangaluru, Oct 6: Road repair contractor escaped with equipment like road roller, concrete mixer, JCB, Hitachi, trucks and tippers as the public of Bajpe were getting ready to protest against the unscientific and substandard road repair work.

The public of Bajpe planned to hold a road block on Friday under Siraj Bajpe, convener of Bajpe citizens’ welfare forum and co-convener Ismail Engineer. As the contractor got the news of the road block, he escaped with all the equipment from the spot of work.

The forum warned the government officials that they will not allow work till the road is built in a scientific manner.

Devdas, Jacob Pereira, Thomas and Satish, conveners of Dalit Sangharsh State Committee were present.
