Udupi, Oct 7: Block Congress president Ramesh Kanchan urged farmers and public to participate in the huge protest meeting that is organized on October 9 at Brahmavar against the current administrative board of Brahmavar Sugar factory which has made huge scam in the scrap deal of the factory. The protest march will start near sugar factory and proceed to Brahmavar town

In a press statement, Kanchan said, “There is a huge network behind the scam that has taken place in Brahmavar sugar factory. Earlier, the BJP government and the current administrative board are involved in this. With the intention of closing down the factory work is done and more than Rs 14 crore is looted. That is why the Congress party resorting to prevent this through fierce protest.

“During the recent annual general body meeting farmers were prevented from attending. Present president kept hired goondas near the meeting premises. This clearly shows that his scam should not be questioned. It is an insult to the farmers.

“The Congress party has always stood with the farmers. During the former rule of Siddaramaiah, Rs 12 crore was released for loan and salaries of employees in order to save the factory.

“Later, the BJP, which assumed power through backdoor method of Operation Kamala did not do anything to revive the factory or for the betterment of farmers. It seems their aim is to make money from the sale of scrap of the company.

“There is a huge network behind this scam and a high level protest is required to prevent the same. Hence, the Congress party has organized a mammoth protest at 10 am on October 9. All public and farmers have to join hands in order to create awareness on the scam that has taken place during the rule of the BJP,” he stated in the press release.

The same was communicated through a press conference subsequently attended by Udupi district Congress working president Kishan Hegde Kolkebailu, block Congress presidents Ramesh Kanchan and Dinkar Herur, leaders Prakhyat Shetty, Jyoti Hebbar, Kushal Shetty.
