Mangaluru, Oct 7: The third phase of Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0 for children (0-5) and pregnant women will begin from October 9 to 14 in the Dakshina Kannada district, informed Dr Rajesh, reproductive and child health officer Dr Rajesh.

Addressing a press meet at the district health office on Saturday, October 7, he said, “The department has successfully achieved a 100% target in the first phase and second phase of Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0. In both the phases, as many as 8855 children (0-5 years) and 1914 pregnant mothers were vaccinated.

“As many as 441 vaccination centers have been identified, and 3076 children from the age group of 0-6 years, and 583 pregnant women are targeted for vaccination. The women and child development department in collaboration with other departments have joined hands for this noble cause.

“Training has been given to the staff in rural and urban areas. Vaccination will be given in PHCs, Anganwadi, and other centers,” he said.

He also added that there is a slight rise in the positive cases of measles and rubella diseases. “More number of patients are from other states and districts. As many as 400 samples were collected, out of which 50% were tested positive,” he said.
