Mangaluru: ‘Gadyanth Masti’ organised for Vamanjoor church parishioners

Mangaluru, Oct 7: Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R) Vamanjoor unit & youth commission organized ‘Gadyanth Masti 2023’ at Kelrai Kodi on October 1

Fr James D’Souza, vicar forane city warado & parish priest of St Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor was the president for the inauguration accompanied by chief guests Louis J Pinto, renowned entrepreneur and convenor of anti-drug campaign Mangalore diocese, and Wilfred Alvares, president Catholic Sabha city warado Mangalore diocese. Fr Ashwin D’Souza, assistant parish priest Vamanjoor church, Charles Stany Pais, vice president, parish pastoral parishad Vamanjoor, Gratian Anil Pinto, coordinator 21 commissions Vamanjoor, Jokim D’Souza, convenor, youth commission Vamanjoor, Patrick Lobo, president Catholic Sabha Vamanjoor, and Herwin Pinto, youth coordinator Catholic Sabha Vamanjoor were the guests of honour. Fr Maxim Rosario, estate manager of Mangalore diocese also attended the event.

The event started with a prayer song from Preethika and team. Shanthi Priya Lasrado compered the event.

The anti-drug awareness campaign was inaugurated by clipping the boards to a banana tree. ‘Gadyanth Masti’ was inaugurated with a tug-of-war for the parishioners.

Fr James D’Souza, Louis J Pinto and Wilfred Alvares spoke on anti-drug awareness and also on ‘Gadyanth Masti’.

Patrick Lobo welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was delivered by Gratian Anil Pinto.

A variety of games including treasure hunt, bomb in the city, musical chair, povli-odche, throwball, running race, and reverse race were conducted for the parishioners by Alwyn Agrar and team.

Fr James D’Souza was the president of the valedictory event with Fr Ashwin Cardoza, director of youth commission Mangalore diocese and Wencita Dias, youth icon and Coastalwood actress as chief guests. Mithesh D’Souza, president, ICYM Mangalore diocese was present as guest of honour.

Fr Ashwin Cardoza and Wencita Dias addressed the gathering.

Jokim D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Herwin Pinto delivered the vote of thanks.

Sapna Saldanha and Roshan Kamath compered the event.

Fr James D’Souza, Fr Ivan Ashwin D’Souza, Fr Ashwin Cardoza, Wencita Dias, Mithesh D’Souza and Charles Stany Pais distributed the prizes to the winners.

The special attraction at the event was an anti-drug awareness street play conducted by Team Rangadhyana from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.

A crowd of over 400 gathered for the event.
