Mangaluru, Oct 7: Under the leadership of Mangaluru ward committee convener Kishore Attavar and civic participation Karnataka manager Manjunath Hampapura who came as resource person for the programme, organized workshop on Mangaluru ward committee bye-law and area sabha on Saturday October 7 at Bala Bhavan, Kadri Park. More than 50 ward committee members from various wards of Mangaluru City Corporation participated in this workshop.

Ward committee meetings have not been held in Mangaluru since state assembly elections. This was brought to the attention of Mangaluru municipal commissioner and the mayor by the Mangaluru Ward Samiti Balaga members. A discussion on the resolutions to execute and implement of ward Committee Byelaw and Area Sabha was done, and a request letter on these resolutions was submitted to the Mangaluru City Commissioner along with an appeal to effectively conduct ward committee meetings on a regular basis.

In the meeting, it was suggested to include three expertise from ward committee Members and Janaagraha organization, who supported in drafting Byelaw in the Committee, headed under the chairmanship of Mangaluru mayor, for the execution and implementation of ward committee bye-law and area sabha. In the meeting, the members were given an in-depth knowledge about the relationship between area sabha and ward committee.

There was a reinvigorated feeling amongst the members and the technical assistance and knowledge given by Janaagraha organization was encouraging.
