St Lawrence Church Bondel hosts Melodious Marian Hymns Nite in memory of Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ

Mangaluru, Oct 8: St Lawrence Church in Bondel hosted Melodious Marian Hymns Nite in memory of the Late Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ. The event, organized by the Rev. Fr. Walter Albuquerque SJ Memorial Choir Mangalore, took place on October 7 with the aim of raising funds for a church project.

Choir Master Simon Pais led the choir, comprising 30 members, in singing eight hymns. The talented singers included Dealle D’Souza, Joe and Sylvia Fernandes, Viswas Rebimbus, Meera Florence, Jason Lobo, Lawrence Baptist, and Jasmine.

The Bondel Choir group, under the leadership of Dr. Suraj Noronha, presented three hymns, featuring soulful singing by parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, Fr Peter Gonsalves, and Fr Lancy D’Souza.

At the event, the Fr Walter Albuquerque SJ Memorial Choir handed over a check of Rs 2.5 lacs to Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza for the church project. This amount was collected from well-wishers and supporters.

Choir Master Simon Pais was honored by the parish priest with a shawl, peta, and garland. The dais included Fr Anil SJ, Anush SJ, and John D’Silva, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council.

The event saw a significant turnout of parishioners from St Lawrence Church and city deanery parishioners.

Parish priest Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza expressed his gratitude to choir master Simon Pais and his team, Dr Suraj and his team, as well as all the donors and sponsors for their contributions in making the Melodious Marian Hymns Nite a successful event.

    CONGRATS to St. Lawrence Church Bondel for hosting the most melodious Marian Hymns Nite. It looked like a very holy and colourful occasion with such beautiful characters of Mary and others entering the church ceremoniously and greeted by the parishioners. The entire, as seen by the coverage and photos, looked well organised. In Spain too, year after year, such christian activities are held with fabulous and colourful scenes which are appreciated by the crowd. Likewise, one hopes that our parishes to follow suit and continue what the Bondel Church has done. CONGRATS and GOD BLESS ALL. DENZIL FERNANDES
