Kundapur, Oct 8: After persistent demands, Kundapur's city railway station will finally see the introduction of a prepaid auto rickshaw counter starting from Monday, October 9.

This new facility is set to greatly benefit passengers arriving in the early morning hours from locations such as Mumbai, Goa, Kerala, and Bengaluru.

Konkan Railway decided to initiate a prepaid auto rickshaw counter tender due to repeated appeals from passengers in newspaper columns. Furthermore, the matter was brought to the attention of railway officials during a meeting organized by the Kundapur Passenger Welfare Committee. Auto rickshaws will be available to transport passengers to any part of Kundapur at rates established by the state government.

Many auto rickshaw drivers at Kundapur railway station have also expressed their desire to see the prepaid counter become operational in order to eliminate confusion among passengers.

The Railway Passengers' Welfare Committee believes that the introduction of the counter will boost the business of auto rickshaw drivers while also relieving passengers of the stress associated with arranging transportation to the railway station in advance.

Previously, there were complaints on social media regarding auto rickshaw fares being higher than the train fares from locations like Goa or Bengaluru to Kundapur. With the launch of the prepaid counter, these complaints are expected to be addressed. The Kundapur Railway Passengers' Welfare Committee encourages the public to make the most of this new facility.
