Udupi, Oct 12: The Malenadu-Karavali People's Forum has undertaken a number of visionary programmes for people's concern in order to make a comprehensive study of the problems in Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Shimoga, Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Uttara Kannada districts and formulate a solution for them. In this regard, it has been decided to hold a serious consultation meeting at Adi Chunchanagiri Mutt Hall, Vijayanagar, Bengaluru on Tuesday, October 31,” said general secretary Sudhir Kumar Maroli.

Speaking at a press conference held in Udupi, he said, "Our forum is a registered organization and in the future, it will be an organization that will respond on behalf of the communities by forming units of ‘Malenadu-Karavali People's Forum’ in all the taluks so that it will be convenient to raise voice against local issues in all the taluks of the hilly and coastal districts. The public needs to strengthen the organization. There is an open opportunity for all to participate in the programmes. The union has decided to hold a detailed discussion on many issues including various diseases that have appeared in the important crops of the coastal highland region, revenue, forest land, problems in giving rights to the cultivators, and difficulties in profit and loss if the Kasturirangan report is implemented. The purpose of the forum is to put pressure on the government to come up with a scheme to set up higher education institutes including medical colleges and IIT colleges in the coastal and part of Malenadu district. The main objective of this forum is to draw the attention of the government by fighting against many problems in the seven districts. Appropriate amendment of the Forest Rights Act is also our priority.

“Malenadu-Coastal People's Forum is preparing for a strong struggle to get the attention of the governments to respond to the people's lives by simplifying some laws in favour of the people, benefit schemes for all auto-rickshaw drivers, and a university in the name of Narayana Guru, a pioneer of revolutionary social equality, who organized against intolerance without discrimination of caste and caste and raised the cry of the oppressed, said Sudhir adding that the union has put forward a plan to insist on the setting up of a high court traveling bench and to prioritize tourism ‘hot spot’ including nature and Ayurvedic tourist spots so that nature does not suffer.

Answering a question about contesting the next Lok Sabha elections, Sudhir Kumar Maroli said, "I am constantly traveling in this region for the party's work. In this context, I have heard the workers' insistence to contest the next Lok Sabha elections. Work is going on in the party, and I am confident that the party will give me an opportunity. But this forum is non-political. I am engaged in this struggle for the people as a social responsibility. It is a work that is not related to elections or politics.”

Convenor Anil Hosakoppa, members Vijay K Shetty, Durga Charan, Deepak Navunda, and others were present.
