Beltangady, Oct 18: A lorry transporting cylinders and a tempo carrying tender coconuts met with a head-on collision near the Kottigehara check-post of Mudigere taluk on Monday, October 16 in the evening. The tempo overturned due to the mishap obstructing the flow of vehicular traffic on the Charmadi Ghat resulting in a traffic jam for nearly three hours.

Drivers of both the vehicles were injured due to the accident and were admitted to a hospital. The locals helped the lorry driver whose leg got stuck by removing it and taken to hospital.

Due to the impact of the accident, the tempo overturned and the whole road was scattered with tender coconuts which were being carried by the vehicle.

Though there was space for small motor vehicles to move, vehicles moved haphazardly resulting in a traffic jam.

A number of vehicles got stuck in the traffic jam and passengers had a tough time as it was also raining. Misty weather conditions also compounded the motorists' woes.
